The Series - Introduction!

Introduction

It was a perfect Monday. Not very sunny nor humid. The office in T.Nagar was the place of our scene today. It was sharp 9 Am in the morning. In one of those meeting rooms there were about 5 people sitting around a long elongated table. This was their first day in this organization. They were waiting for the HR person Mr.Murali to come and initiate them into the process and procedures of that company.

Swarup was the quiet one of the lot. Upon asking, we found that he was from some place near Vijayawada. Then there was this guy called Prasanna who was very animated and excited in starting his career in such a good organization. Gopi and the other guy, I forget his name were also natives of Tamil Nadu . And the lone girl amongst them G, was answering all the queries put forth by the guys on where she was from etc…..

Few minutes after 9, Mr.Murali walks in with the papers and the formalities we need to finish before beginning to work. Murali a man of average height, had a very quiet kind of voice which really conveyed everything without any fuss. I guess for everyone present that day would vouch that Murali gave a good start by telling us about the policies and all. Everyone were almost on the verge of finishing all their paper work.

The time was about 10 am. In walks the hero of these series, a thin guy with glasses. He walks into the meeting room excusing himself. Mr.Murali looks up to him questioningly. The guy gives him his appointment letter telling him that he has come to join work that day. All of us present there were wondering why this bugger was so late.

Mr.Murali says you have come very late. The office starts at 9 AM sharp.
Our hero coolly retorts that the appointment letter did not mention any time. It just stated that he needs to report to work that Monday.

We were all so dumbstruck at his comment. G couldn’t control her laughter. Our hero was very earnest in his reply and he did not even look sorry that he walked in late. The best part was the reaction of Mr.Murali, the HR guy. He did not know how to react to the guy’s comment. He asked to look at the appointment letter. And to his credit admitted that “Yes, it does look like the letter doesn’t mention about the time when you are asked to report”.

Mr.Murali handed back the letter to the new guy and told him that it was very late today and he can come again on Wednesday for joining. He said “ You can go now as we have finished all the procedures for today, on Wednesday, we are expected few new people to join, I can get you on with them.”

By then the others were all abuzz and swarup peeked a look at the new guy’s name. It said Ramachandran Narayanasamy!!
